Three Questions Transcript
Murray Comber here to chat with you about your career.
If you are in isolation, TAKE the time; if you’re not in isolation, MAKE the time; to ask yourself these three important questions.
The 1st Question would be…
‘What aspects of your career do you want to keep and perhaps develop?
If you want to keep it, it’s because you probably like it. If you like it, you miss it. If you miss it, your best at it. And if you like it, miss it and are best at it, chances are those are the things that energize you and motivate you to hang in there and do the job well. The thing would be, maybe you could enhance them. Maybe you can get better at them to make you even more effective when you go back to work.
The 2nd Question is the opposite of that.
What aspects of my career do I not miss and would like to let go of?
If you don’t miss it, chances are you don’t like it. If you don’t like it, chances are you’re not good at it. And if you don’t like it, and aren’t good at it, chances are, though you may have learned to be proficient in them, at the end of the day they drain you and demotivate you.
- Can you offload it? If so, do it
- If you can’t offload it, then what are you going to do to learn to manage that?
The 3rd and Final Question is,
Do I need to even rethink my career completely?
Does my job, does my career have a future? If it does, do I have a future in that career or job?
If you’ve been asking those questions, chances are you’ve been also asking three words.
- What am I going to do about it?
- When am I going to do it? and
- How on earth am I going to do it?
You don’t have a starting point.
Well I’d suggest to you that those are the things that are holding you back from really discovering and exploring what could be absolutely awesome in your World of Work, in your career from this point forward.
Over the next 10 days, I’m going to be doing three more videos about this length but I’m going to be talking about each one of these questions in more depth. Lookout for them.
