Career Question – Next Step is the follow up video to the question What do YOU do. Do you know how you would answer. This follow up to the last What Do YOU Do video reviewing Question 1 extends it by presenting Question 2, the follow up challenge. Both of these are designed to help you reconsider your career whether you like it or not.

Well Hello! Murray Comber here with another Career Chat.

Last video I asked a question and I gave an extensive answer. We’re building on that. But whether you’ve seen it or not, you can still move forward with this by asking yourself the
question…

Right now, what do you do?

I’m not talking about a short answer, one or two words like…

Teacher
Doctor, I work in
Retail
Real Estate
Factory Worker

I’m not talking about that. I’m talking about delving down and explaining exactly what you do on your job. I think it’s important that you…

Write that in detail on paper
Ponder it
Think about it

And put it on paper so that when you’re done you can say…

Well I’m totally happy with that
I’m content or
You may know an idea where to make some adjustments.

But, if you don’t like it then you definitely need to move on to the second question.

But whether we move on to the second question because you don’t like your job or

Whether you do like your job but would like to open the door to something different in the future, here’s the question…

What would you REALLY like to do?

Can you answer that? Is there anything that’s brewing in your heart, your mind that you could write down and say I could do this job and explain what you mean by that.

Then once you’ve done it ask yourself this question…

Is that realistically possible?
If it is, what’s holding you back?
If there’s nothing holding you back, then
What are you going to do about it and,
What is your plan?

On the other hand if you say, asking that question, what I really would like to do

I have no idea
I do not know what to do

then you don’t even know the alternatives, then

There’s a Very Strong Possibility you Don’t Even Know Where to Begin

So, whether you like your job but would like to explore the future options, or
Whether you don’t like your job and need to explore future options
